JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Union College track & field teams competed in the 2013 Appalachian Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday afternoon, with the UC women's team finishing fourth and the men's squad finishing fifth.
Overall, Tennessee Wesleyan captured the AAC women's outdoor title, while Montreat (N.C.) was the victor on the men's side of the competition.
In the meet, Union was led by the pair of Christa Hicks and Frantzy Sejour, who swept the long jump with a pair of wins. Hicks won the women's portion of the event with a 15 foot, 6.25 inch leap, while Sejour was victorious on the men's side with a 20 foot. 6.25 inch effort. Sejour also had high finishes in two track events, placing fourth in both the 100-meter dash (11.80) and the 400-meter dash (51.77).
Elsewhere, Dalton Whitney finished right behind Sejour in the long jump in second with a 20 foot, 0.25 inch effort, and third in the 100-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 11.71. Matt Francis was third in the shot put with a toss of 41 feet, eight inches, while William White was also third in the discus after notching a 111 foot, eight inch effort.
For the women, Kayse Cornett was second in the shot put (33 feet, one inch) and fourth in the discus (78 feet, two inches), while Hicks finished second in the high jump (four feet, five inches, a new school record). Rounding out the top performances for the women was notched by Feiarra Foster, who placed sixth in the 100 meter dash (14.59).
The Union College track & field teams return to action on April 27 at the Bellarmine (Ky.) Invitational.
