GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Union women's golf team recorded a sixth-place finish at the 2013 Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship Tournament on Tuesday at Link Hills Country Club Course in Greeneville, Tenn.
The Lady Bulldogs compiled a two-day score of 719. SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) won the tournament with a total tally of 645, easily outpacing second-place Milligan (Tenn.) by 32 strokes.
Bryan (Tenn.) finished third with a 679, while Tennessee Wesleyan and St. Andrews (N.C.) were fourth and fifth at 695 and 701, respectively. Columbia (S.C.) came in seventh at 729, and Reinhardt (Ga.) rounded out the field with a 733 in eighth place.
Union was led by Syndey Smith (Greensburg, Ky.), who tied for 17th overall at 172. Katie Nusz (Mount Washington, Ky.) was next in line for the Lady Bulldogs in 21st place with a 174. Brittany Zins (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Danielle Judd (Louisville, Ky.) rounded out Union's team score as they posted 181 and 192, respectively.
Ashley Madden of SCAD Atlanta claimed medalist honors as she won the event with a 151.
