KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Five members of the Union College softball team were named to the 2013 All-Appalachian Athletic Conference Second Team on Tuesday.
Borum, a freshman, was solid in her rookie campaign for the Lady Bulldogs, posting a .354 batting average in 41 starts in the outfield. Borum scored 28 runs, knocked home 22 RBI, and hit five home runs, leading the team in hits with 46. She also went 12-of-16 on stolen base attempts on the season, as well.
Campbell, a sophomore, leads the Lady Bulldogs in batting average, posting a .366 average in 41 games played. Campbell also leads the team in doubles with 14, and slugging percentage at .553. Campbell is also second on the team in RBI with 23, and has committed just one error on the year at catcher.
Cyrus, a sophomore, is batting .331 in 40 starts, leading the team in home runs with six. On Apr. 8 at Bryan (Tenn.), Cyrus broke a UC program record, and tied an NAIA record hitting three home runs in one game, helping the Lady Bulldogs slug their way to a 13-11 victory.
Perkins, a junior, has been Union's ace in the pitching circle all season. She has recorded an 8-10 record in 17 starts, with a 3.04 ERA. Perkins has fanned 81 batters on the year, walking just 37 in the process.
Wojnowski, a sophomore, earns a spot on the All-AAC team for the second straight season. Overall, she has batted .333 in 41 games, scoring a team-high 38 runs. She also leads the team in on base percentage at .451, and has nabbed 22 bases in 25 attempts on the season.
Rounding out the Lady Bulldogs honored by the conference on the day was sophomore Kelsey Morgan, who earned a spot on the All-AAC Academic Team for her work in the classroom.
The Union College softball team plays Columbia (S.C.) Wednesday in an elimination game at the AAC Tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
