BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College will seek to defend its Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season championship as head coach David Nicholson recently announced the Lady Bulldogs' 2008 schedule.

Union will much of the season on the road as it has just 13 home dates compared to 17 road dates.

In 2007, Union captured the regular-season conference title with a 16-2 record. The two losses came at the hands of Bryan (Tenn.) College. Coincidentally, Union will open its conference schedule against Bryan on Sept. 5 in Robsion Arena.

Union will open the regular season on Aug. 29-30 at the Anderson (S.C.) University Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs' first home match is set for Sept. 2 against University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).

Union will have a tough stretch from Sept. 16-Oct. 18 as nine of the team's 11 matches will be on the road, including five in a row.

Last season, Union set a program record for wins as it posted a 34-15 overall mark.
