BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union head men's golf coach Eric Wyrick announced the recent signing of Nick Blankenship of Ashland, Ky., for the 2013-14 season.

A four-year member of the Ashland Blazer High School, Blankenship helped the Tomcats to four trips to KHSAA State Tournament. This past season, he finished in the top 25 in all-state points and won the Ashland Invitational Tournament.

"It is great to welcome such a quality player from the state to our program," said Wyrick. "He has a proven track record of success all over the state and will no doubt help us achieve our goals as a team starting next year. Nick is a great young man with a very bright future due to his work ethic and ability to achieve what he sets his mind to. While being a solid player on the course, Nick has also achieved great success in the classroom. I am thrilled for him to be a part of our program and cannot wait to see what the future holds for him."

Blankenship is a three-time EKJGA Player of the Year and made the all-region team three times as well.

Union placed third in the Appalachian Athletic Conference during the regular season and was fifth at the league tournament.
