BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College men's swimming team was named a Spring 2013 College Swimming Association of America (CSCAA) Team Scholar All-American for the NAIA recently. The Bulldogs earn the award for their work in the classroom for the fourth straight semester after posting a 3.08 team grade point average.

Also, Union men's swimmers Cameron Brewer and Martino Cervera were named to the CSCAA Scholar All-American First Team, with Aaron Bean rounding out the selections with an Honorable Mention Scholar All-American honor. For the women's team, Renata Cabral and Kayla Yokley earned First Team Scholar All-American honors.

"After receiving such honors from the NAIA, it is great to see our men receiving another award of the same category from the CSCAA as a team scholar," said head coach Rafael Forti. "They have all worked very hard for that and they are very deserving of it.

"As for the individual honors, it is also great to see we have had good representation on these lists for last season. These five swimmers deserve much credit for it, as they were able to manage to keep excellence in the classroom while working very hard all season long in the pool. This is no easy feat."

The Union College men's and women's swimming teams open their 2013-14 seasons on Oct. 19, hosting Cumberlands (Ky.) and St. Catharine (Ky.) at the Stivers Aquatic Center.
