BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College men's and women's swimming coach Rafael Forti has announced the programs' 2013-14 schedule recently. In all, the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs will take part in eight dual-meet contests, along with an invitational in December hosted by the program at the Stivers Aquatic Center.
Forti, who enters his ninth season as the head of the Union swimming programs, will look to build on the men's teams seventh place finish (matching a program best) at the 2013 NAIA National Championships, and the women's squad's eighth place finish overall at the event.
The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs open their 2013-14 slate on Oct. 19, hosting Cumberlands (Ky.) and St. Catharine (Ky.) at the Stivers Center. Following a dual meet at Asbury (Ky.) on Nov. 2 and a meet at Campbellsville versus the host Tigers and Lindsey Wilson on Nov. 9, Union returns home on Nov. 23, hosting Transylvania (Ky.) and Bethel (Tenn.).
Union ends the 2013 portion of their schedule on Dec. 6 and 7, as the program hosts their annual Winter Invitational at Stivers. Last season, both programs hosted seven teams in the meet, with the men's team finishing first in the competition.
After a long break, the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs open 2014 on Jan. 18, hosting Emory & Henry (Va.) and Berea (Ky.), followed up by their last away meet of the season on Jan. 25 at West Virginia Tech.
Union ends the regular season with back-to-back home meets in February. On Feb. 1, the program hosts Milligan (Tenn.) and St. Catharine, then ends the regular year with a meet against King (Tenn.) and Bethel at Stivers on Feb. 9. That meet will also be the programs annual Senior Day.
Union ends the season traveling to the 2014 Appalachian Swimming & Diving Conference Championships in Christiansburg, Va. from Feb. 13-15, and to the 2014 NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla. from Mar. 5-9.
