BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Three different St. Catharine players scored goals, as the visiting Patriots defeated the Union College women's soccer team, 3-1, on Tuesday afternoon at Burch/Nau Field in out-of-conference action.
With the loss, Union fell to 1-6, while St. Catharine improved to 7-1 with the victory.
The Patriots went into the intermission with a 1-0 lead, as Shelby Rush scored an unassisted goal in the seventh minute to give St. Catharine the early one-score edge. In the second half, SCC put the match out of Union's reach with goals in the 47th minute and 69th minute, respectively, to open a 3-0 lead.
Union's lone score on the day was scored in the 83rd minute, as Kayla Langen scored her first goal of the season. Aline Dalmedico and Helen Weber each recorded assists on the play. But, it was too little, too late for the Lady Bulldogs, as St. Catharine rolled their way to the two score victory.
Overall, SCC out-shot Union, 16-14, and held an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Lady Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Saturday, as they jump back into Appalachian Athletic Conference play with a match against Milligan (Tenn.) at Burch/Nau Field. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
