COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Union volleyball team saw its seven-match win streak as the Lady Bulldogs dropped a 3-0, Appalachian Athletic Conference decision to host Columbia (S.C.) on Friday.
The loss drops Union to 9-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Columbia improves to 7-8 overall and 7-1 in the AAC.
The Koalas rolled in the opening frame, taking it 25-14. Union put up a fight in the second set, but Columbia rallied and pulled out the 25-21 decision. The Koalas jumped out to a comfortable lead in the third set and fought off the Lady Bulldogs' comeback attempts in claiming the 25-18 win, sealing the 3-0 sweep.
Union returns to action Saturday when it plays at St. Andrews (N.C.) in another AAC match. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
