WALESKA, Ga. - The Union women's golf team turned in a solid final round and moved up in the standings on Tuesday to finish sixth at the Fall Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament.

After carding a 356 in the opening run, the Bulldogs fired a 338 for a two-round score of 694 to leapfrog Point (Ga.) for sixth place. Point finished seventh in the 10-team field with a 699.

SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) and Milligan (Tenn.) ended the tournament tied for first at 648, but The tie was broken based on the play of the fifth player on the second round, and Gina Son of SCAD Atlanta shot an 88 with Milligan's Mollie Stone posting an 89.

St. Andrews took third with a 655, while Tennessee Wesleyan (656) and Reinhardt (682) round out the top five.

Katie Nusz paced Union with a 166 to put in a tie for 13th. After shooting an 85 during the first round, Nusz cut four stokes off her score with an 81 on Tuesday. Sydney Smith had the biggest improvement on the team, shooting eight strokes better during the final round as she also shot an 81. Smith finished at 170 to put her in a tie for 24th.

In fact, all five Bulldogs improved their performances on the final round by at least three strokes.

Rounding out Union's scoring were Danielle Judd with a 175, Elizabeth Haack with a 183 and Brittany Zins with a 184.

Taking medalist honors was Cassidy Gibson of Milligan who finished a 155, edging Michelle Madden of SCAD Atlanta by one stroke.

This is the final event for the fall for Union. The Bulldogs resume play in March.
