BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Union College Bulldogs hold the 25th best field goal percentage in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II ranks according to the NAIA-DakStats website Friday. The Bulldogs are making 48.0 percent of their shots from the field, which also ranks second in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Other Top-5 team ratings in the AAC:
  • No. 3 in Blocks per Game (3.56);
  • No. 4 in Field-Goal Percentage Defense (.449) and Steals per Game (8.09);
  • No. 5 in Scoring Defense (72.52), Scoring Margin (+0.09), Free-Throw Percentage (.690) and Total Rebound Margin (+1.56).

Sophomore guard Aaron Dunaway (Lexington, Ky.) has made his mark in the conference.

Dunaway ranks No. 7 in scoring average (15.04); No. 8 in field-goal percentage (.387) and 3-point field percentage (.387) along with a spot at No. 10 with 1.87 3-point field goals made per game.

Other AAC rankings featuring Bulldogs:

  • Hubertus von Heydon (Neulengbach, Austria) is No. 5 in blocks per game(0.83);
  • Michael Hester (Independence, Ky.) is No. 8 in steals (37);
  • Brian Kirk (Augusta, Ky.) ranks No. 9 in steals per game (1.64) and No. 10 in free-throw percentage (.680);
  • Bill Davis (Independence, Ky.) is No. 10 in blocks (13).

The Bulldogs improved to 15-8 overall and 5-6 in the AAC after a 74-73 win over Montreat (N.C.) College Tuesday.

Next for Union is a conference contest at Covenant (Ga.) College Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Union won the first meeting, 76-69, on Dec. 4.
