ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union College's Kendall Ellington has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference's Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 27, the league announced Monday.

Ellington, a freshman from London, Ky., had a stellar week in goal for the Bulldogs, helping the team record victories over Point (2-1) and St. Andrews (4-1).

Against Point, Ellington made a season-best 11 saves, leading Union to a one score victory on the road. It was more of the same this past Saturday against St. Andrews, as Ellington made six more saves, shutting out the Knights for over 69 minutes before she was pulled out of the match after sustaining an injury.

For the year, Ellington has made 82 saves, recording a goals against average of 2.23.

The Union College women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Bryan (Tenn.) for the teams regular season finale. The match gets started at 7 p.m.
