BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College men's and women's swimming teams rolled in a double dual meet on Saturday at Stivers Aquatic Center against Transylvania (Ky.) and Bethel (Tenn.). 

Overall, the Union men's team defeated Transylvania, 174-66, and Bethel, 187-16, while the women's squad bested Transylvania, 149-101.and Bethel, 183-13. In all, the Union swimmers combined to capture 24 of the 30 events they competed in on the day, while hitting 26 NAIA National Qualifying Cuts (15 "A" Cuts and 11 "B" Cuts). 

"I am very happy with the way we swam [Saturday]," said head coach Rafael Forti. "I asked the team to get up and compete in every event, and that's what we did. I am looking forward to our Winter Invitational in a few weeks, so we can obtain the qualifying times for Nationals we still do not have."

Of note on the day, Union hit eight National qualifying cuts for the first time on the year. Leading the way for the women's team was Tanya Eustrom, who posted "A" cuts in the 50-free (25.75) and the 100-free (56.25).

Elsewhere for the women, Callie Harrigan posted an "A" cut in the 100-back (1:02.17), Kasey McCormick had a "A" cut in the 100-breast (1:09.67), and Anna Kotliarova notched an "A" cut in the 100-fly (1:00.94). Rounding out the group was Eliska Melicharova, who had a "B" cut in the 400-IM (5:05.44), and Kellianne Holck, who posted a "B" cut in the 100-free with her successful lead-off in the 400-free relay. 

The lone new National Qualifying cut set on the day by the men's team was notched by Dalton Baxter in the 200-free, who recorded a "B" cut with a time of 1:49.30.

The Union College men's and women's swimming teams return to action on Dec. 6, as the program hosts their annual Winter Invitational at the Stivers Aquatic Center. The event runs through Dec. 7.
