BRISTOL, Va. - The Union women's basketball team posted its third win in a row with a 73-70 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory at host Virginia Intermont on Tuesday.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in league play. Union is one of two unbeaten teams left in conference play. Bryan (Tenn.) (6-3 overall) is the other as it defeated Point (Ga.) 78-45 to go to 3-0 in the AAC.

The loss drops Virginia Intermont to 3-3 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Union led 44-39 at the half. The Lady Cobras kept battling and outscored the Bulldogs 31-29 during the final 20 minutes, but it was not enough as Union held on for the 73-70 decision.

Haley Perkins scored a career-high 30 points to pace Union. She hit 12-of-23 shots from the floor and was 4-of-10 from behind the arc. Perkins also had eight rebounds, four steals and a block. Her previous game-high was 21 points against Cincinnati Clermont (Ohio) on Dec. 8, 2012. The most points she had scored in a game this season was 16.

Aaliyah Lumson followed with a season-high 15 points and four steals, and Lydia Nash connected on 4-of-6 shots in netting 10 points to go with her three rebounds. Marah Rice proved to be a threat from long range, going 3-for-4 in adding nine points.
