BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College men's and women's swimming teams capped off a successful 2013 UC Winter Invitational on Saturday at the Stivers Aquatic Center. The mee was the final event of the 2013 portion of their 13-14 schedule.

Overall, the Union men's team was able to hold off Asbury (Ky.) to take the Invitational crown on the men's side with 279 points. Meanwhile, the Bulldog women's team finished second to Emory and Henry (Va.), collecting 206.5 points over the weekend.

For the men's team, the Union 200-medley relay team won their portion of the event, hitting the wall in 1:37.25 (an "A" cut) in the only relay contested in the morning session. In the final event of the Invite, the Bulldogs posted an "A" cut in the 400-free relay, finishing in 3:13.49. Elsewhere on the weekend, Union won the 400-medley relay (3:35.45, an "A" cut) and finished second in the 200-free relay (1:30.91, an "A" cut).

In the first final of the afternoon session, the 400-IM, Jose Jesus Morales continued his strong weekend in the pool, capturing the event with a time of 4:05.69 (an "A" cut). Union picked up another victory in the 100-back when Lucas Lucena won with a time of 53.62 (an "A" cut), then Bradley Moore recorded another win, taking the 200-free in an "A" cut time of 1:44.00.

Next in the 200-breast, Vinicius Rossi was victorious, winning the event in 2:09.97 (an "A" cut). In the final event of note on the day for the men's team, the 1650-free, three Bulldogs hit "A" cuts. Bradley Moore won the event in 16:33.42, Dalton Baxter placed second in 16:54.67, and Christopher Clark was third in 17:22.56.

On the women's side, Union had "A" cuts in both relays contested on the day, finishing in 1:49.57 in the 200-medley relay and 3:36.08 in the 400-free relay. The Bulldogs also recorded "A" cuts in the the 200-free relay (1:38.77) and 400-medley relay (4:02.27) on the weekend, as well.

Individually on Saturday, Callie Harrigan won both the 100-back and 200-free on the day in a pair of "A" cut times. Harrigan captured the 100-back in a time of 59.53 and won the 200-free in 2:00.37. In the 100-fly, Anna Kotliarova was victorious, hitting the wall in 59.83 (an "A" cut), while Kellianne Holck rounded out the top performances for the women's team on the weekend after capturing the 1650-free in an "A" cut time of 18:51.14.

The Union College men's and women's swimming teams will now be idle for Holiday Break until Jan. 18, when they host Emory and Henry in a dual meet at the Stivers Center. Action gets underway at 1 p.m.
