BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Union College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the availability of a Union athletics app for portable Adriod devices. The Android app joins the iOs (Apple) app, which was first made available in August.
The apps were developed and created by SIDHelp, the web designer and host for Union's athletic website - www.ucbulldogs.com.
Bulldog Athletics has been working with SIDHelp, the athletic website developer, on the application for several weeks and the Goople Play Store approved the final release late last week. Union is one of the first of SIDHelp's clients to roll out the Andriod app, and the Bulldogs were the 15th school in the SIDHelp family to have an iTunes app and the 11th NAIA institution to have one.
The department launched the first incarnation of its SIDHelp produced site in the fall of 2007 and the site went under a complete redesign in the January of 2011. The feedback from both the original site and the redesign has been overwhelmingly positive.
"Going with SIDHelp over six years ago as our website host was one of the best and easiest decisions we've made ," said director of sports communications Jay Stancil. "Greg Black and his staff have always produced high-quality work and done everything possible to provide us with what we need.
"Our website, however, does not always translate very well to mobile devices," he continued. "Because of that, we wanted to develop an app that would all our fans, friends and alumni to stay better connected with Bulldog athletics."
Within the app fans will have quick and intuitive access to virtually all department information. Fans can read the latest headlines and game recaps, check up on recent news within the department; view student-athlete and staff bios, access contact information for department staff, view team schedules and even watch or listen to live events from within the app.
