BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Guard DeAntray Stevens led five double-digit scorers with 17 points, as the Union men's basketball team rolled past Crown (Tenn.), 106-55, in out-of-conference action on Monday evening at Robsion Arena. 

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 14-3 overall, while Crown fell to 4-7 with the loss.

The Bulldogs made quick work of the visiting Royal Crusaders, opening a 10 point lead (16-6) in the first five minutes of regulation. Union eventually extended the lead out to 21 (43-22) with four minutes left and rode the momentum into the half for intermission, taking a 53-28 lead at the break.

It was more of the same in the second half, as the Bulldogs opened the half on a 9-0 run to open up an insurmountable 62-28 lead. From there, Union rolled, on their way to a dominating 51-point home win.

Stevens led the way on the evening for the Bulldogs, scoring 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Stevens led five Union double-digit scorers on the night, as both Deante Johnson and Tarik Smith scored 14 points, apiece. Johnson, who also snatched nine rebounds, shot 7-of-8 from the field in the win, while Smith went a perfect 3-of-3 from three point range and recorded four steals.

Rounding out the group of double-digit scorers was Maurice Turner, who had 13 points and Sean Brown, who ended the evening with 11 points. 

Crown was led in the loss by Chad Mainous, who posted a game-high 22 points.

By the Numbers

  • This was the fifth time on the 2013-14 season that the Bulldogs hit or went over the century mark (Union is 4-1 in those contest). Meanwhile, the 51-point margin of victory was the biggest on the year for Union, as well.
  • Stevens has been impressive in his first three games for Union, scoring in double-figures in all three contests, while leading the team in scoring in two of those games.
  • The win for the Bulldogs was their eighth in the last nine games and fifth straight at home. The team is now 7-2 in non-conference games on the year, as well.

Union jumps back into AAC play on Wednesday evening, hosting Reinhardt (Ga.) in a battle of the top two teams in the conference. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Robsion Arena.
