BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Due to winter weather throughout the region, Wednesday evening's originally scheduled Appalachian Athletic Conference women's and men's basketball doubleheader between Union and Milligan (Tenn.) has been postponed.
The games will be made up on Thursday evening at Robsion Arena, with the women's game beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the men's game slated for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
The Union women's team - currently receiving votes in the NAIA Division II Coaches Poll - is just a half game out of first place in the AAC standings, sitting at 14-6 overall, 10-2 in the league (the Bulldogs have also won three straight games). Milligan is 9-4 in conference play (13-8 overall) and will look to avenge an 84-70 loss on their home floor to the Bulldogs on Nov. 12.
The Union men's team, ranked 22nd in this week's NAIA Coaches Poll, comes in on top in the AAC standings at 18-3 overall, 10-1 in league play. The team has also won eight straight games. The second hottest team in the conference is Milligan, winners of five straight to go to 13-7 overall, 7-5 in AAC Play. They will also look to avenge a home loss to the Bulldogs back in November, as Union was victorious in that one, 80-72.
The Union men's and women's basketball teams will then hit the road on Saturday, traveling to Tennessee Wesleyan in another big AAC match-up. The women's game will start at 2 p.m., with the men's game to follow at 4 p.m.
