BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College forward Deante Johnson posted career-highs in both points with 31 points and rebounds with 16, leading the No. 22 Bulldogs to a 102-94 victory over Milligan (Tenn.) on Thursday evening at Robsion Arena.

With the win, Union extended their winning streak to nine games, improving to 19-3 on the year, 11-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Milligan had a five-game winning streak snapped in the loss, falling to 13-8 overall, 8-5 in the AAC.

In the first period, the Bulldogs took control early, opening a 20-6 lead with 13:28 left in the half after going on a 13-1 run. Union eventually extended the lead out to 17 points (35-18) with 8:27 left and remained ahead by double-digits for most of the period.

Right before the half, Milligan nailed a three to knock the Union lead down to nine points at the break (46-37). The Buffaloes continued to ride a wave of momentum at the beginning of the second half, cutting the Union lead down to three points (50-47) after going on a quick 10-4 run.

However, Union quickly went back up double-digits over the next few minutes, rolling on a 9-0 run to go up 12 at 59-47. This would be a theme for the rest of the contest, as each time Milligan made a run at the Union lead, the Bulldogs were able to fight it off.

With 2:34 left, Union went up 15 points (89-74) after another Johnson jumper, taking a lead that proved to be too much for Milligan to come back from. The closest the Buffaloes came to the Bulldogs lead the rest of the night was six points (on two separate occasions), as Union held on down the stretch to record the eight-point conference win.

Overall, Johnson recorded his career scoring night on 11-of-15 shooting from the floor, along with an 11-of-14 performance from the free throw line.

Elsewhere, DeAntray Stevens scored a season-high 26 points (after going 10-of-11 from the charity stripe), Michael Bueter had 11 points and Fitzgerald White posted 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers on the night for Union.

Milligan was led in the loss by guard Mickey Woods, who scored 31 points.
