KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Union College men's basketball team remained in 22nd in the latest NAIA Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the National Office announced on Tuesday. This marks the third straight week that the Bulldogs are ranked in the poll.
Union, 21-3 overall and 13-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, extended their impressive winning streak to 11 games on Monday night, pulling out a thrilling 123-116 victory over Virginia Intermont in overtime at Robsion Arena.
Last week, Union won three games, beating Hiwassee (Tenn.) (89-52), Milligan (Tenn.) (102-94) and Tennessee Wesleyan (88-74), as the Bulldogs have opened up a three and a half game lead in the AAC regular season standings.
In Saturday's win over TWC, the Bulldogs clinched a 20-win season, the 13th in program history. The last time Union won 20 games in a season came in 2009-10 (that team finished 20-13) and marked only the fifth time in the last 20 seasons that the Bulldogs have reached the 20-win plateau.
