BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union men's bowling team recorded 19th-place and 14th-place finishes over the weekend at the Norse Collegiate Classic and the Thomas Burris Classic, respectively.
At Saturday's Norse Classic, the Bulldogs posted a final pinfall of 6,351 to place 19th out of 23 teams. Union was a mere 142 pins behind 18th-place Alabama. Morehead State (Ky.) won the event with a score of 7,759, while Pikeville (Ky.) was second at 7,696 and Martin Methodist (Tenn.) was third at 7,528.
Individually, Michael Ingram led Union with a 29th-place finish with a total score of 954 for an average of 190.8. Joey Davenport was next in line in 56th with a total score of 882 and 176.4 average.
On Sunday, the Bulldogs rolled a final tally of 6,246 to come in 14th out of 16 team in the Burris Classic. Once again, Alabama place just ahead of Union but by only 98 pins this time around.
Pikeville won the event with a total pinfiall of 7,699. Morehead State was second at 7,577, and Martin Methodist took third with a score of 7,217.
Jonathan Courtney led the Bulldogs with a 50th-place finish with a total score of 910. Jorge Jackson was next in line in 86th place at 729.
Next up for the Bulldogs is the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Feb. 21-22 in Louisville, Ky.
