BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union women's bowling showed great improvement over the weekend as the Bulldogs placed 13th at the Norse Collegiate Classic and seventh in the Thomas Burris Classic.
On Saturday, Union posted a total pinfall of 6,443 to finish 13th out of 22 teams in the Norse Classic. Pikeville (Ky.) won the event with a score of 7,516 with Ursuline (Ohio) came in second at 7007. Bowling Green State (Ohio) was third at 6,968.
Individually, Katelynn George paced Union with a 30th-place finish with a score of 892 for a 178.4 average. Marissa Campbell was next in line, placing 37th with a final tally of 877 and an average 175.4.
The Bulldogs made a strong surge at the end to finish seventh out of 16 teams in the Burris Classic.
After the five team games, Union was in ninth place. However, the Bulldogs posted scores o 725, 669 and 653 in their three Baker games to finish with a final pinfall of 6,246.
Pikeville, Bellarmine (Ky.) and Emmanuel (Ga.) were the top three teams with scores of 7,088, 6,774 and 6,478, respectively.
Christy King led Union individually with a 23rd-place finish as she rolled a total score of 911. George followed with a 35th-place showing with a score of 870, and Kimberly Alexander came in 39th with a score of 854.
Union returns to action on Saturday and Sunday as it participates in the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, Ind.
