GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Union College Bulldog indoor track and field team reached new heights Saturday at the Depauw Invitational, hosted by Depauw (Ind.) University.

In the 55-meter dash, Johnnie Nabors (Lawrenceville, Ga.) won the event with a time of 6.38 seconds and is one of the fastest times by any NAIA sprinter this season. Teammates Marekus Smith (Lithonia, Ga.) and Scotty Barnes (Ewing, Va.) finished fourth and seventh, respectively with times of 6.67 and 6.72 seconds.

Nabors and Erick Coleman (Chicago, Ill.) shared a ninth-place finish in the 200 meters. Both posted times of 23.39 seconds. Smith also competed in the event and finished with a time of 23.68.

Coleman finished tenth in the long jump with a 19 feet and 10.25 inches jump. Nabors and Cody Miller (Meadowview, Va.) posted jumps of 18 feet and 4.5 inches and 16 feet and 5.25 inches, respectively. In the triple jump, Coleman was fifth overall with a school-record jump of 42 feet and 5.25 inches.

Daniel Kual (Stone Mountain, Ga.) added his name to the record book in the 1,000 meters with a time of two minutes and 42.97 seconds. His time was good enough for a fifth-place finish. Kual also broke the Union record in the mile with a time of 4:39.18.

Brandon Kibert (Tazewell, Tenn.) lowered his school record in the 5,000 meters. His time of 15:43.29 was the third-fastest time in the event. He also finished ninth in the 1,000-meter race with a time of 2:53.00.

Brennan O’Quinn (Meadowview, Va.) completed the 800 meters in 2:04.30.

The trio of Barnes, Smith and James Mills (Manchester, Ky.)also threw the shot put. Barnes had the longest throw at 35 feet and 6.75 inches. Millis followed with a 34 feet and 5.75 inches throw. Smith rounded out the group with a 32 feet 9.5 toss.
