ATLANTA, Ga. - The Union men's and women's tennis teams faced some tough competition to open the 2014 season as they dropped 9-0 decisions to the squads from SCAD Atlanta in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Saturday.

Both Bulldog teams are now 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the AAC, while both Bee teams are 1-0 on the year and 1-0 in league play.

This was the first match for the Union programs since the 2011 season. The programs had been on hiatus for three years before being reinstated as an intercollegiate sport.

Men's Tennis
SCAD Atlanta 9, Union 0

The host Bees controlled things in doubles play, winning the three matches by the scores of 8-3, 8-0 and 8-1.

SCAD Atlanta swept through singles action, recording four 6-0, 6-0 decsion. However, Louis Molina put up a valiant effort in the No. 1 singles match as he fell 6-3, 6-2. Eric Mikhlin was the only other Bulldog to win a game in singles play as he lost 6-1, 6-1.

The Bulldogs' next match is March 3 when they host Point (Ga.) in another conference showdown.

Women's Tennis
SCAD Atlanta 9, Union 0

The Bees collected all three doubles points, winning 8-0, 8-1 and 8-0.

In singles, Union won a total of three games as SCAD Atlanta went on to take the 9-0 decision.

SCAD Atlanta is ranked No. 14 in the NAIA Preseason Poll.

Union returns home Monday to play host to Columbia (S.C.) in an AAC tilt. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
