BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - A six-run ninth catapulted visting and No. 15 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) past Union in a wild 12-9 ballgame on Tuesday.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 7-4 on the year, while the Blue Raiders improve to 5-6 overall.

Union had its offense working again, collecting 10 hits with all nine starters collecting at least one hit. J.D. Burrell was the lone guy to pick up multiple hits, going 2-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored. In addition to the 10 hits, the Bulldogs received nine bases on balls.

However, Union missed some opportunities, leaving nine men on base.

Lindsey Wilson, meanwhile, had 11 hits and collected five walks. The Raiders also were hit by a pitch four times and left seven men on base.

The Bulldogs appeared to be on their way to a victory when they scored a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth for a 9-6 lead. Nelson Price lined a run-scoring double to make it 8-6, and Jared Tomany lofted a sac fly to score pinch-runner Corey Corum for the three-run lead.

But Lindsey Wilson caught some breaks in the ninth to push six runs across. The Raiders sent 12 to plate but had only four hits. The first two batters dumped singles to right, and the runners advanced to second and third thanks a wild pitch. Union thought it had the first out of the when Mark Silva struck out swinging, but the pitch was wild to allow Silva to reach first and a run to score to make it 9-7. A walk loaded the bases, and another wild pitch allowed another run to score to make it a one-run game. After a strikeout, the Bulldogs got Jordan Berry to ground out to short, yet the game-tying run scored on the play. Lindsey Wilson once again loaded the bases with two outs and proceeded to tack on three more runs on a single, a walk and a hit by pitch for a 12-9 lead.

In the bottom of the ninth, Union went down in order for only the second time in the game as Lindsey Wilson escaped with the three-run victory.

Despite giving up two runs in an inning of work, Keith Patton picked up the win to improve to 1-0 on the year. Sam Ross notched his first save of the year for the Raiders. Tomany suffered the loss for Union.

Offensively, Tomany went 1-for-4 with three RBIs, while John Wilson finished 1-of-3 with two driven in.
