BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College cyclist Kara Uhl will take part in one of the biggest mountain bike races in the United States this weekend, as she will race in the 2014 Mellow Johnny's Classic in Johnson City, Texas outside of Austin. The race begins this Saturday at the Flat Creek Crossing Ranch, and finishes up on Sunday.

Uhl, a junior and native of Smithville, Texas, will participate in a major race this weekend. The event is the first stop on the USA Cycling US Cup Pro Series presented by Sho-Air Cycling Group, which will feature some of the best mountain cyclist in the country. Also, if Uhl places high enough in this weekend's race, she will qualify for the Mountain Bike National Championships, which will be held later this year.

"I will be able to race against all the women I grew up with, along with more from around the country," said Uhl. "After three years of mountains and cold air, I can't wait to back to my rock ledges, and slick cedar roots that taught me all the technical skills I have today on a bike."
