BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – After his impressive run at the Depauw Invitational Saturday, Johnnie Nabors was honored with the Appalachian Athletic Conference Track & Field Athlete of the Week award, the league announced Monday.

Nabors (Lawrenceville, Ga.) posted a time of 6.38 seconds in the 55-meter dash to win the event and set a new Union record. When converted to 60 meters, his time of 6.86 is currently the fastest time in the event recorded by a NAIA sprinter this season.

On Saturday, he also competed in two other events, the 200 meters and long jump. He finished ninth in the 200 meters with a 23.39 performance and added an 18th-place finish with a jump of 18 feet and 4.5 inches.

He adds this award with his NAIA Indoor Track & Field All-American honor from the 60 meters with a third-place finish at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championship last year.

This marks the first week the AAC has given the Track & Field Athlete of the Week award this season.

Next on the schedule for Nabors and the Bulldogs is the Virginia Tech Challenge Feb. 22 and Feb. 23.
