BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College men's basketball team will end the 2013-14 regular season ranked 22nd in the NAIA Division II Coaches' Poll, which was released by the National Office on Wednesday afternoon. The poll is the last before the conclusion of the NAIA National Tournament.
Union (28-4 on the year), who is in the poll for the seventh straight week, moved up to 22nd in this week's rankings from 24th, where they had been ranked the last two weeks.
The Bulldogs capped off a historic season this past Saturday by capturing the 2013-14 Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament Championship with a 74-63 victory over Virginia Intermont. With the win, the Bulldogs recorded their 28th victory of the season to break the record for most in a campaign, which was previously held by the 1967-68 Bulldogs (27).
It was also second AAC Tournament Championship in program history (2011) and marked the first time since 1971-72 that a Union men's basketball team captured both a regular season and tournament conference championship in the same season.

The Bulldogs now have their eyes set on the 2014 NAIA Division II National Tournament, which will begin on Mar. 12 in Point Lookout, Mo. This evening, Union will find out who their first round opponent will be, as the unveiling of the brackets will be streamed live online by the NAIA beginning at 9 p.m. EST.
