
BRISTOL, Va. – Aaron Dunaway scored a game-high 26 points to lead Union College to a 75-69 win at Virginia Intermont College Wednesday in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.
Dunaway, a sophomore from Lexington, Ky., went 7-for-15 from the field, which includes a 4-for-8 night behind the 3-point line. He also knocked down all eight of his free-throw attempts to break the 20-point plateau for the seventh time this season. Dunaway also led all players with 8 rebounds.
Another pair of Bulldogs also scored in double-digits. Chris Stunson (Richmond, Ky.) and Brian Kirk (Augusta, Ky.) chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively.
With the win, Union improved to 7-8 in the AAC and 17-10 overall. The seven conference wins surpasses last year’s six wins (6-12) in conference play. The Bulldogs also snapped a 2-game road losing streak. Virginia Intermont dropped to 5-10 in conference and 10-14 overall.
Courtney White and Akeem Price scored 16 points a piece to lead the Cobras. Jamie Butler added 13 points.
Union owned a 37-31 advantage after the first half of play.
The Bulldogs will host Milligan (Tenn.) College this Saturday in their final home game of the season. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Union traveled to Milligan, then ranked No. 20, on Jan. 15 and returned to Barbourville with a 61-46 victory.
