BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Following a very successful winter championship season, Union ranks 39th in the NAIA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, which was released on Thursday.
After not scoring any points in the fall, Union tallied 188 points during the winter championships. The men's and women's basketball teams each finished 17th nationally to score 25 points apiece. The women's swimming team scored an eighth-place finish for 66 points, and the men's swimming team finished sixth to register 72 points.
In all, 173 institutions have scored points thus far.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports -- six women's and six men's.
The first NAIA spring standings will be released Thursday, May 29, 2014.
