CROSSVILLE, Tenn. - The Union College men's golf team finished strong once again in an event on Tuesday, placing second at the 2014 Appalachian Athletic Conference Spring Championship, held at the Lake Tansi Golf Course and hosted by Bryan (Tenn.).
Overall, Union posted a second round score of 302, finishing the event with a combined score of 609 after posting a 307 on Monday. The Bulldogs finished in a tie with St. Andrews (N.C.), but bested the Knights on the fifth tie-breaker to take second in the event.
Tennessee Wesleyan, who was in a tie for first with Milligan after the first round, captured the event with a final team score of 598 (302-296).
In the fall and spring championships combined, Union finished third overall in the league with a final four round score of 1200.
Individually, Garrett Bradley (SR/Jellico, Tenn.) fired an even par round of 72 on the second day of competition, ending the tournament with a combined score of 145 (72-73) to finish second overall. Bradley also earned All-AAC Second Team honors for his efforts in both the Fall and Spring AAC Tournaments, as well.
Elsewhere, Simon Taylor (JR/Eckenhaid, Bayern, Germany) placed in a tie for sixth after posting a three-over round of 75 (for a combined score of 149), earning All-AAC Second Team honors, as well. Alasdair Ross (FR/Fort William, Scotland) finished with a four-over 76, and Andy Dusek (FR/Woking, England) rounded out the top performances on the day with a seven-over 79.
The Union College golf team completes their 2013-14 regular season with the AAC Tournament Championship in Acworth, Ga. beginning on Apr. 14. The event, which will determine the conference's automatic qualifier for the 2014 NAIA National Championships, ends on Apr. 15.
