DANVILLE, Ky. - The Union College men's and women's track & field teams continued their outdoor season on Saturday, taking part in the Centre (Ky.) Invitational. Overall, both the men's and women's teams finished sixth overall in the invite.

For the women's team, Jessica Shepherd (SO) notched the best performance of the afternoon any event in the 100-meter dash, finishing second after crossing the finish line in 13.24. Shepherd also finished sixth in the 200-meters in a time of 28.18.

Elsewhere, Alex Prokopchak (FR) placed fourth in the javelin with a toss of 80 feet, six inches, sixth in the triple jump (31 feet, 4.75 inches), and seventh in the long jump with a 14 foot, 3.25 inch effort. Becky Allen (FR) was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:21.08), Abby Tigue (JR/Pineville, Ky.) was seventh in the discus with a 90 feet, two inch effort, and Helen Weber (JR/Marburg, Germany) rounded out the top performances on the day for the women with a seventh place finish in the high jump (four feet, six inches.

On the men's side, Andrew Johnston (SR/Benton, Ky.) won the lone event on the day for Union, taking the top spot in the pole vault with a clearance of 11 feet, 5.75 inches.

Meanwhile, William White (SR/Manchester, Ky.) continued his strong season with high finishes in several events. White placed fourth in the javelin (129 feet, 10 inches), fifth in the shot put (38 feet, 6.25 inches), and sixth in both the discus (119 feet, five inches) and hammer throw (125 feet, five inches).

Rounding out the top finishes on the day for Union were Matt Francis (JR/Salyersville, Ky.), who was sixth in the shot put with a 38 foot, 6.25 inch effort, and sprinter Domonique Jefferson (JR/Lawrenceville, Ga..), who crossed the finish line in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.42 to also finish sixth.

The Union College men's and women's track & field teams return to action on Saturday, taking part in the Cumberlands (Ky.) Invitational.
