BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College men's soccer head coach Tyler Brock has announced that Luke Hitchman has signed his National Letter of Intent, and plans to join the Bulldog program in time for the 2014 season this fall.

HItchman, a midfielder, will join the program from his native Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, England.

"We are very excited to have Luke officially join our program," said Brock. "Luke came to visit us last preseason and we were very impressed with his ability on the ball is decision-making and his ability to create dangerous play in the final third. Luke can be that box to box midfielder that you need, he's got a great mind and understands the game at a high level. He defends as well as he attacks, and he's just the total package when it comes to a midfielder.

"Luke also has great size and athleticism to him, and I think he's going to be a force coming in right away and competing for a starting position."

In Ellesmere Port, Hitchman prepped at Upton-by-Chester High School, and clubbed with Vauxhall Motors F.C. Hitchman led his team to both the 2013 Wirral Cup Championship and the Birkenhead Shield Championship, earning the Wirral Young Player of the Year honors in 2013. He is also a three-time winner of the Vauxhall Player of the Year award, as well.

The son of Richard and Sonja Hitchman, Luke plans to major in Business Management at Union College.
