BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – A game-high 18 points from Aaron Dunaway propelled the Union College Bulldogs to a 72-63 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory Saturday against Milligan (Tenn.) College on Senior Day.

Union improved to 18-10 on the season and 8-8 in conference play. The Bulldogs also picked up a swept of the season series against Milligan. Union captured the first game by the score of 61-46 on Jan. 15. The Buffaloes of Milligan dropped to 9-7 in the AAC and 18-8 overall.

The first score of the contest came from senior Bulldog Kevin Jones (Radcliff, Ky.) and Union never trailed at any point in the game. Jeff Barnes tied the contest with a basket down low and the Bulldogs reeled off a 17-6 run over the next five minutes to enjoy their largest lead of the half.

With another 11-point lead, 37-26, Milligan ended the half on a 12-1 run capped by a David Warner jumper as the half ended to make the score 38 apiece.

Dunaway (Lexington, Ky.) scored four of his 18 points to start the second half as a part of Union’s 8-0 spurt over the first 5 minutes to regain control of the game.

A pair of free throws from Danny McKeehan were the first points for Milligan, at the 6:15 mark to make the game a 50-44 score.

Dunaway answered with back-to-back 3-pointers and the Bulldogs never looked back. The closest the Buffaloes could cut into the Union advantage was six points down the stretch.

Senior Chris Stunson (Richmond, Ky.) scored 15 points in his final game at Robsion Arena. Jones finished the game with six points, but he grabbed nine rebounds. Josh Hurd (Independence, Ky.) scored in double-digits with a 10-point effort.

Union’s guard duo of Michael Hester (Independence, Ky.) and Brian Kirk (Augusta, Ky.) provided an additional spark to the Bulldogs’ efforts. Hester finished with a season-high eight assists with eight points and three steals. Kirk also recorded three steals to go with seven points and five assists.

For Milligan, McKeehan and Tyler Estepp both scored 11 points while Barnes recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Bulldogs enjoyed a 29-for-54 (53.7 percent) performance from the field while Milligan went 24-for-57 (42.1 percent). When Union shoots better than 50 percent, the Bulldogs own a 11-2 record this season.

Milligan only made three 3-pointers compared to eight for the Bulldogs. The Buffaloes enjoyed a 39-32 advantage in the rebound category

Union will travel to Bryan (Tenn.) College for another AAC contest Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs needed overtime in the first meeting of the two for an 82-79 on Jan. 19.
