ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Union College baseball team will be the number-three seed at the 2014 Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament, which will begin on Monday morning at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tenn.
The Bulldogs, who finished the 2014 regular season with a 34-18 overall mark, 17-10 in the AAC, will take on No. 6 seed Point (Ga.) in their first game of tournament play on Monday at 1 p.m.
The tournament format consists of eight teams in two pools of four. In pool play, it is a double-elimination within pool play. The two pool winners will then meet in a winner-take-all championship game to determine the 2014 Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament champion. Seeds No. 1, 4, 5 and 8 will be in Pool A, while Seeds No. 2, 3, 6 and 7 will be in Pool B.
In the regular season, Point came to Jerry Carey Stadium and took two of three games from Union, clinching the series with a 5-1 victory on Apr. 6. The Skyhawks ended the season posting a 28-23 overall record, 14-13 in the AAC.
