DAYTON, Tenn. - Senior Allison Fowler netted a game-high 28 points as visiting Union College defeated Bryan (Tenn.) College 68-54 in Appalachian Athletic Conference action Tuesday, extending its win streak to five games.

With the win, Union improved to 21-7 overall and 14-3 in league play, while Bryan dropped to 10-18 overall and 7-10 in the AAC.

Fowler (Morganfield, Ky.) went 10-of-16 from the field and 6-for-11 from 3-point range in recording her season-high 28 points. Fowler needed to step up her game because Bryan double- and triple-teamed Brooke Smith (Pineville, Ky.), who was held to six points and one rebound - both of which are season lows.

Up 36-29 at the half, Union outscored Bryan 32-25 in the second to seal the victory.

Union was able to record the 14-point victory despite being outrebounded 43-23. Fowler, Susanna Todd (Eubank, Ky.) and Jessica Baker (Canmer, Ky.) tied for the team high with each grabbing four rebounds.

Bryan, though, committed 21 turnovers to Union's 11, and Union was able to convert Bryan's miscues into 20 points.

Union shot the ball well, making 47.3 percent (26-of-55 shots) from the floor and 9-of-18 (50 percent) from 3-point range. Bryan had a hard time putting the ball in the net as it connected on just 20-of-52 shots (38.5 percent) and was 4-for-18 (22.2 percent) from long range.

After Fowler, Carley Blankenship (Lexington, Ky.) was the only other Lady Bulldog in double figures as she scored 15 points to go along with her five assists.

Katie Davis paced Bryan with 25 points, while Courtney Swanson and Amber Smith each netted eight points with Smith hauling in a game-high nine rebounds.

Union will close out the regular season Saturday at UVa-Wise. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
