
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Two Union College swimming records went down Thursday on the opening day of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships at the Palo Alto Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas.
Bulldog freshman Colin McEachran (Blenheim, Canada) competed in the 500 on the men’s side and he finished with a school record time of five minutes and 5.80 seconds. His time was good enough for a 29th-place finish. Michael Viscardi (Marietta, Ga.) used a time of 2:09.71 in the 200 individual medley in his prelim race to lower his school record.
The first Union swimmer to take to the pool was Mollie Messmer (Scott City, Mo.) in the 500-yard freestyle. She posted a time of 5:35.17 seconds to finish 26th.
The 200 medley relay team of Kristina Kirk (Versailles, Ky.), Eden Ellison (Tamms, Ill.), Kelli Rogers (Elizabethtown, Ky.) and Messmer swam to a time of 2:06.95. The group was 0.6 seconds off their school record.
