PINEVILLE, Ky. – Weather once again played a roll in the Union College Bulldogs Spring Invitational at the Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville, Ky., on Tuesday. Rain forced the tournament to be shortened to a 27-hole event.

Union finished sixth in the team standings with a score of 164 Tuesday to give the Bulldogs a total of 493 for the invitational. The Bulldogs were ten shots behind Spalding (Ky.) University.

In the nine-hole second round, the Bulldogs were led by Adam LaTulippe (Hamilton, Ohio) with his 40 and he had a two-day total of 123. Sam Lee (Knoxville, Tenn.) followed his first-round 78 with a 42 Tuesday. He finished tied for 15th with a 27-hole total of 120. Magnus Lundberg (Stockholm, Sweden) fired a 41 on the front nine.

Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University captured the team crown with a score of 459, six shots better than Walters State (Tenn.) Community College. The University of the Cumberlands finished third ahead of Tennessee Wesleyan College by two strokes, 470-472. Mount Vernon posted a 155 in Tuesday’s nine-hole round.

Tim Hepner, from Mount Vernon Nazarene, went one-under-par Tuesday with a 35 to give him the individual medalist honors. He finished with a 27-hole total of 108. Spalding’s Ben Carter and Luke Fullen from Walters State tied for second at 113 while Kevin Horseman was fourth one shot behind. All earned spots on the all-invitational team. The final member of the team was Michael Burgan from Cumberlands. He was in a tie for fifth with 115, but won a scorecard playoff.

Next for Union is the Berry College / Rome News-Tribune Invitational in Rome, Ga. The two-day event is scheduled to start on March 10.
