Smith (Pineville, Ky.) landed a spot on the five-person Region 6 squad, qualifying her for the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team.

The NAIA All-America Team is a mixture of both NAIA Division I and Division II players.

Joining Smith on the Region 6 Team is Liz Martin of Covenant (Ga.) College, Jan Dodson and Jessica Still of Lee (Tenn.) University, and Trenese Smith of Loyola (La.) University New Orleans.

The 6-foot Smith has set numerous records for Union this season, including most points scored in a game (54), most field goals made in a game (20), most points scored in a season (760) and most free throws made in a season (184). Smith is averaging 23.0 points and 7.33 rebounds per game and ranks fifth on the all-time scoring list (1,318 career points) and sixth on the all-time rebounding list (462).

Smith was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned the NAIA Division II Player of the Week honor on Feb. 20. She helped Union (25-8 overall) to a share of the Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season championship and to its second consecutive conference tournament title.

Union will open play in the NAIA Division II National Championship Tournament Wednesday at 1 p.m. Eastern against Concordia (Neb.) University. The tournament is being held in Sioux City, Iowa.

The 30 finalists, who are voted upon by WBCA member coaches in each of the six WBCA geographical regions, are now in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team.

The 2008 State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team for NAIA will be announced at the NAIA Division I Championship Banquet on March 18, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. (CT) in the Jackson Civic Center in Jackson, Tenn.
