BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Ryle High School’s Austin Sebald will play for the Union College Bulldogs’ soccer team next season.
Sebald, a defender and midfielder, was a team captain last season on a team that went 17-7-1. In region play, Ryle compiled a 9-1 mark. Ryle was a KHSAA state runner-up in 2006 and in 2007, Ryle reached the Section 3 finals before George Rogers Clark defeated the Raiders.
He also played on the Northern Kentucky Red Devils club team. During his spare time, Sebald is the FBLA vice president at Ryle.
Sebald will also be a part of the Union baseball team as a pitcher.
“Austin is a great young man, with a lot of potential and I am anxious to see him grow as a student athlete over the years,” commented Union head coach Tyler Brock.
Brock also added that Sebald will provide depth on the Bulldogs’ back line.
Union finished 2007 with a 10-7-1 record, the most wins since 2001. The Bulldogs also picked up an Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinal win.
