
MONTREAT, N.C. - Union College won its opening Appalachian Athletic Conference game 9-3 Tuesday, but host Montreat (N.C.) College fought back to win the finale 6-4 for the split.
Union is now 8-14 overall and 1-1 in league play, while Montreat's overall record now stands at 5-17 overall and 1-1 in the AAC.
Sarah Driver (Hopkinsville, Ky.) struck out seven batters as Union recorded the 9-3 decision.
Montreat helped Union out by committing several errors, allowing Union to push runs across the plate.
Ashley Tatman (Lexington, Ky.) led Union offensively in going 2-for-4.
Montreat got its revenge in the nightcap, posting the 6-4 decision.
