FRESNO, Calif. - Union College had a rough day at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet on Friday in Fresno, Calif., as the Bulldogs failed to make it past the semis in the 100 Meter Dash and 4x100 Relay.
In the 100 Meter Dash, Andre Thornton (Loganville, Ga.) and Johnnie Nabors placed sixth and seventh in their respective heat races, failing to move on to the finals. Thornton posted a time of 10.73 seconds, while Nabors ran it in 10.76 seconds.
The 4x100 Relay team entered the semifinal round having posted the fourth-best time in the prelims. However, the team was unable to finish the race, ending its quest for the top prize.
Thornton will compete in the semifinals of the 200 Meter Dash on Saturday 3:30 p.m. PDT with the finals slated for 5 p.m. PDT. Also competing on Saturday will be junior Brandon Kibert (Tazewell, Tenn.) who will be running in the half marathon.
