FRESNO, Calif. - The Union College sprinters are showing that they are among the NAIA's elite, posting high marks in the prelims of the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet in Fresno, Calif., on Thursday.

The 4x100 Relay team was second in its heat and fourth overall with a time of 40.93 seconds. Oklahoma Baptist, which won Union's heat, is first at 40.37 seconds, while Hutson-Tillotson (Texas) and McKendree (Ill.) are second and third, respectively, at 40.84 and 40.89 seconds. The finals are scheduled for Saturday at 2:50 p.m. PDT.

In the 100 Meter Dash, Andre Thornton (Loganville, Ga.) was fourth overall with Johnnie Nabors (Lawrenceville, Ga.) seventh in the prelims with times of 10.78 and 10.82 seconds, respectively. The semifinal round heats are slated for Friday at 2:50 p.m. PDT with the final set for 5 p.m. PDT.

Thornton also advanced in the 200 Meter Dash, placing fourth overall in the prelims with a time of 21.31 seconds. The semis are scheduled for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. PDT with the finals slated for 5 p.m. PDT.
