BARBOURVILLE, Ky.Justin Ward has become the first signee for the Union College bowling program and head coach Matt Mahony.

Ward bowled at Tates Creek High School, where he was a co-captain. He will bowl in this weekend’s Kentucky State Tournament in Louisville, Ky. Ward owns a 205 average and has posted a 280 this season.

He is also the nephew of Kelly Combs, Union’s head men’s basketball coach.

"I am very excited to have Justin be the first step in our bowling program,” Mahony commented. “He will be a huge factor in the success of our program."

Union announced the launching of the bowling program after a 30-year hiatus. In the NAIA ranks, Union becomes the 14th athletic department to offer the sport.
