KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Union College took its biggest leap up in the 2008 NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 poll this season as it slid up three spots to No. 13, the NAIA announced Wednesday.

Ranked 16th last week, Union garnered 267 total votes to land in the No. 13 position.

By a mere four-point spread, Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) clings to No. 1 in the Top 25 poll. The Warriors have maintained the No. 1 slot for the last 24 straight polls. However, LCSC is narrowly in the lead over No. 2 Lee (Tenn.) after the Warriors earned 11 first-place votes and 537 points -- Lee (Tenn.) posted 10 first-place nods and 533 total points.

The Warriors have been the top-ranked dating back to the 2006 season. Winners of the last two National Championships, LCSC stands 25-2 overall on the year. Lee, who is at No. 2 for the second straight week, is the season wins leader in the NAIA with a 34-1 mark. The Flames have won 31 straight games heading into the week.

The next three teams in the Top 5 hold from last week: No. 3 Lubbock Christian (Texas), No. 4 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) and No. 5 Oklahoma City.

The last time there was a different No. 1 was Oklahoma City in the 2006 Preseason Poll (Nov. 16, 2005).

The fourth regular season poll will be released on Wednesday, April 2.

Union is 26-6 overall and 6-2 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
