MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - It took almost eight hours, but the Union College men's tennis team, ranked No. 14 in the country, dropped a 5-4 match to No. 10 Bethel (Tenn.) College Friday.

It was the opening match of the Blast-Off Classic at Richards Tennis Complex on the campus of Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga.

Friday's loss was the first time the Bulldogs have been defeated this season, as their record moved to 8-1. It also snapped a 16-match winning streak during regular season play. Bethel went to 8-0 after the match.

The only two points in singles' action came from Rafael Millon (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Luka Milicevic (Johannesburg, South Africa) at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively. The freshmen duo won in straight sets.

The Bulldogs started the match with two points in doubles, at No. 1 and No. 3.

Union plays No. 13 Berry at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The Bulldogs were scheduled to play No. 19 Shorter (Ga.) College Friday, but due to time constraints, the match has been canceled.
