LONDON, Ky. – Union College's Sam Lee fired matching rounds of 75 on Monday to put himself in third place at the Appalachian Athletic Conference and NAIA Region XII Men's Golf Tournament.

Lee, a Knoxville, Tenn. native, stands at eight-over-par after the first two rounds. The next Bulldog in the individual standings is Adam LaTulippe (Hamilton, Ohio) in a two-way tie for ninth with a 156. Magnus Lundberg (Stockholm, Sweden) had rounds of 84 and 78 while Brooks Napier (Walton, Ky.) posted a two-round total of 174.

The tournament is being contested at the 6,356 yard London Country Club, in London, Ky. The course played as a par 71. The field had to battle through the cold conditions for the first two rounds.

In the team standings, Tennessee Wesleyan College followed a first-round 300 with a 306 to hold the 36-hole lead. Covenant (Ga.) College is second with a two-round total of 625, six shots better than Milligan (Tenn.) College. Only 11 shots separate fourth to seventh with Bluefield (Va.) College leading the group with a 633. King (Tenn.) College is next, six shots behind and two shots better than Union. UVa-Wise is seventh with a 644.

Two Tennessee Wesleyan players are in front of Lee, Tyler Smith and Casey Flenniken. Smith shot an even-par 71 to finish the day with a total of 145. Flenniken is four shots behind him. A group of three golfers are tied for fourth with scores of 152.

Final-round action begins Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. For the winning team is a trip to the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship in May.
