
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – A new school record was extended by Brittany Puryear Saturday at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational.
Puryear (Somerset, Ky.) beat her record in the discus throw with a 60 feet and 11 inches throw. She also had a best of 22 feet and 5 inches with the shot put.
Tara Tye (Williamsburg, Ky.) leaped 28 feet and 9 inches in the triple jump, just under her school record. Jeanne Davis (Harrogate, Tenn.) added a 15 feet and 10 inches throw as well in the shot put.
The 100-meter dash featured Autumn Combs (Florence, Ky.) and she ran the straightaway in 20.79 seconds.
Next on the schedule is the Appalachian Athletic Conference championship next weekend in Banner Elk, N.C. Action is scheduled to begin Friday at Lees-McRae College.
