BEREA, Ky. – Scotty Barnes (Ewing, Va.) set a new Union College decathlon record at the Berea (Ky.) College Decathlon. He scored 4,942 points over the ten-events on Monday and Tuesday.
Barnes broke his previous record by 645 points that he set at the Clemson (S.C.) Relays.
He finished second, behind Berea's Jeff Bowling. Bowling scored 5,109 points.
In an additional event, Barnes threw the hammer 52 feet and 11 inches.
