
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Tyler Portwood of Scott County High School has signed to play his collegiate basketball with Union College.
Portwood, a 6-foot-4 forward, averaged 13.2 points per game, with 4.6 rebounds per contest. He made 40.2 percent of his 3-pointers during his senior season. From the field, he owned a 42.7 shooting percent.
He was a member of the All-City of Palms Christmas Tournament, Toyota Classic All Tournament teams. Portwood scored a season-best 29 points against New Hope (Miss.) High School.
While at Scott County, Portwood was a member of the 2007 KHSAA State Championship team as well as two regional runner up teams. He played for head coach Billy Hicks at Scott County.
Union finished the 2007-2008 season with a 19-13 overall record and an 8-10 Appalachian Athletic Conference record under the direction of head coach Kelly Combs.
